About Ryan

A Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, Ryan joined The HSQE Partnership in 2021 and currently holds the position of Health and Safety Lead for the Transpennine Route Upgrade (West Alliance).

A veteran of the British Army with more than 14 years spent in uniform, upon leaving the military Ryan spent the next six years as an HSQE Advisor and Manager within the industrial and rail sectors. Spending almost 3 of these with rail specialists, Alstom, he worked at the heart of a number of challenging rolling stock schemes, helping to ensure the safe delivery of projects such as the Class 390 Heavy Overhaul Scheme, and the Class 390 Modernisation Project.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing day to day management on the UK’s largest infrastructure project
  • Supporting the development of account level HSEW improvement strategies
  • Ensuring all accidents and incidents are reviewed and investigated with corrective actions implemented to prevent reoccurrence
  • Sharing and implementing best practice throughout the team
  • Developing cutting-edge initiatives and innovations to drive health, safety and wellbeing improvements
  • Developing safety leadership and behavioural based safety and cultural change programmes
  • Developing and implementing management systems
  • Carrying out CDM assurance and compliance monitoring
  • Supporting organisations through key accreditations such as Network Rail PCL, RISQS, SSIP, ISO and UVDB
